If you’re looking to start a career in transcription, this is a company that hires work at home transcriptionists. They have positions available for experienced transcriptionists, and they also offer the opportunity to entry-level transcriptionists.
After extensive research, I’ve found mostly positive feedback about this company so I thought I’d share the opportunity with you. I wish you well in your work at home journey, always.
I’d love to hear your stories, too. So please leave a comment and let me know you’re out there. Okay, let’s get into the review.

Allegis Communications Inc. work at home review:

Allegis Communications Inc. provides insurance transcription services. They’re focused on serving P&C insurer carrier claims. They do verbatim-style transcription, which means you’ll transcribe everything you hear including: um, if, s-s-tudder, etc.

Where does Allegis hire work from home workers?

All transcriptionist working with Allegis Transcription must be located in the United States.

Am I an employee or contractor?

All transcription positions are for independent contractors.

What are the hours and scheduling at Allegis?

The hours are flexible. As far as I can see, this company allows transcriptionists to sign in and grab work as it becomes available. Meaning you will not have an assigned schedule so you can work when you want, assuming there is work available at that time. They do state that they have a tier system, which allows you to secure the amount of work that you’re available to take-on. However, I can’t find much information on this system.

How much does Allegis Communications Inc. pay?

They pay by the page. With the 4:1 industry standard you can make between $12-$24 for an actual hour of work. These rates are listed on Glassdoor and forums that I’ve researched. Remember with transcription: the more experience you gain the faster you’ll become and the more money you’ll make.

Do you get paid training?

Their job listing does state that you must have the ability to train for 2-3 hours per day as an entry-level transcriptionist, between the hours of 7:30 am – 3:30 pm. The training is flexible, and it’s up to you when you complete it. However, I cannot find any information about if this is paid or unpaid training.

What are the work at home requirements for Allegis?

On their website they do list requirements which are generic:

  • Must be able to train 2-3 hour/day(as mentioned above.)
Respond and communicate well and promptly.
  • Follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Type at least 75 WPM.
  • Excellent spelling and grammar.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Tech savvy.

What are the tech requirements?

They state you must have a Windows PC with MS Word 2010 or higher. Their platform is not compatible with Mac. They also require you to have a compatible transcription foot pedal to begin work.

Where do I apply for work at home jobs with Allegis?

You can apply for a position here.

Recommended equipment:

  • Foot Pedal:  If you’re interested in transcription and want to take it seriously a foot pedal will increase your earnings tremendously. This pedal is the one I purchased for medical transcription years ago and highly recommend it as an investment.
  • Headphones: I don’t recommend noise-canceling headphones or ear buds as they’re not the most comfortable to wear over time. These are affordable and comfortable.

    1. Hey Lorrie,
      Sorry for the confusion.
At the bottom of this article, under the header “Where do I apply for work at home jobs with Allegis?” it says “You can apply for a position here.” and the word ‘here” is a link to their website.
It looks like they’re hiring for entry-level and experienced positions at this time. Good luck with your application. 🙂
