The Chat Shop work at home review:

The Chat Shop provides, you guessed it, chat support services for business websites. They offer support for a number of clients, and your chats might have you selling insurance, providing support for a British Video-On-Demand company, or talking to customers about vacations that they might be interested in taking this year.

They are based in The United Kingdom and have between 51-200 employees that work from their homes, all over the world. Yup, that’s right if you don’t live in the UK don’t fret you can still get hired on here.

Where does the Chat Shop hire?

It’s best for each person to inquire individually during your application process.

An employee of The Chat Shop kindly reached out to me and let me know that they hire from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. They’ve also had chat agents from Ecuador, Greece, and more.

It’s important to note that they don’t hire in all 50 states, but as I said, ask your interviewer during your application process.

Am I an employee or contractor?

Currently, if you’re hired in the UK will you be an employee, and if you’re hired on in the US, you’ll be a contractor. They are, however, in the middle of transitioning from contractors and hiring everyone as an employee.

What are the work at home hours and schedules?

They employee both part-time and full-time chat agents. When someone is hired on, they are expected to work certain hours for training. Once you’re hired on as an employee, you will have a different schedule for production.

How much does The Chat Shop pay?

In their most recent job listing on Indeed they list their salary at $9.50/hour.

The employee who reached out to me said:

Pay for US agents currently starts at $9.50 per hour. You can get a $0.50 raise if you pass probation (3 or 4 months, can’t remember which).

They have the opportunity to move into a team lead role,  and this position pays significantly more than the chat agent position according to salaries reported on sites like Indeed and Glassdoor.

    Do you get paid training?

You do get training, and this training is paid.
